MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (May 11, 2014)- A 16-year-old boy is dead after a crash that happened early Sunday morning.
The victim was Dakota Dean Murphy from Holton. Murphy was a junior from Fremont High School.
His Jeep was discovered rolled over in a ditch by someone driving by. Investigators say that Murphy was dead on the scene.
Investigators believe that Murphy was traveling southbound on Maple Island Rd. north of Marvin Rd. when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center lane and rolled over. It is believed that he was driving home from a late night at work, and was the only car involved.
According to Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department, they do not have any reason to believe that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. The accident is still under investigation. Murphy’s family has been notified.
