KALAMAZOO, Mich. (May 8, 2014) — A Kalamazoo Public Safety officer shot and killed a pit bull Thursday while on the scene of an assault complaint, according to a release.

Officers were in the 1600 block of Lay Boulevard at about 6:50 p.m. investigating the complaint.

The release says a pit bull came out of the front door and charged at an officer while they were attempting to make contact with the resident of the home.
