COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — They are two of the West Michigan Whitecaps more highly touted prospects this season. So far, they’re living up to the billing.
Infielder Javier Betancourt, who turns 19 on May 8, is hitting .290 and has racked up a team-high 40 hits. Its the second most hits in the entire Midwest League.
Starting pitcher Jonathon Crawford is 1-1 in six starts, with a 2.73 ERA and a WHIP of 1.08. If you take away his first start of the season in which he gave up seven earned runs in five innings, Crawford has a 0.66 ERA and a WHIP of 0.88.
