Man Found Stabbed to Death in West Michigan Home

NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. – A man was found stabbed to death at a home in Newaygo County’s Ensley Township.

According to a release from the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Department, Charles Franklin Rainey III, 28, of Sand Lake was found dead in an Ensley Township home Monday evening.

Deputies said when they arrived on scene they found Rainey with a stab wound to his chest.  He was pronounced dead shortly after medical assistance arrived on scene.

The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office reports that during the evening hours of May 5th, 2014, Deputies were dispatched to an address of 6236 E. 124th St. in Ensley Township, Newaygo County for a stabbing complaint. Once Deputies arrived on scene, they encountered a male victim laying in the entryway of the residence with a stab wound to the chest. Officers began to render first aid to the victim until medical assistance arrived on scene, shortly after the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim is identified as Charles Franklin Rainey (28) of Sand Lake. Two occupants of the residence were interviewed.

 The incident will be turned over to the Prosecutors Office for review.

The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by The Michigan State Police Newaygo Detachment, Life Ambulance, and the Central Michigan Enforcement Team.
