WHITEHALL, Mich (February 15th, 201)—An apartment fire in Whitehall early Saturday morning is now under control.

White Lake Fire Authority Chief Greg Holman said that a West Shore Apartments resident called in the fire around 3:00a.m.

The Chief said the fire started in the laundry room on the first floor of the building then spread up to the second floor, damaging the hallways.

Around 25 residents had to be evacuated from the building as crews battled to get the fire under control.

The damages are estimated between $40,000 and $50,000 and how the blaze started is still unknown. No apartments were damaged by fire, smoke or water.

No injuries were reported.
