WEST MICHIGAN — Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for areas along and west of US-131 for a winter storm that will moves south into West Michigan Friday afternoon and evening. Snow should start around noon and continue through the evening and overnight hours. Snow will be heavy at times and gusty winds will create hazardous driving conditions especially for high-profile vehicles.
Snow will increase in intensity overnight where a widespread area of 2 to 4 inches of snow will be possible. Localized areas of 6 inches or greater will be possible due to lake enhancement however most of West Michigan should stay within the 2 to 4 inch range.
Temperatures will also remain cool thanks to a brisk wind. Despite actual air temperatures warming into the upper teens feel-like temperatures will remain well below zero for the day and overnight. More arctic air returns on Sunday when another potential snow system moves through West Michigan.
