AMBER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Michigan State Police trooper fatally shot a 68-year-old man who pointed a gun at him late Tuesday night.

According to the Ludington Daily News, the trooper was responding to a possible 911 hangup call at a residence on Dennis Road in Mason County’s Amber Township just east of Ludington.  When he went to contact the occupants, a 68-year-old man confronted the trooper with a weapon.  That’s when the trooper shot the man.

The man later died at the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
