GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 19-year-old man is in critical condition Tuesday afternoon after being shot by a Grand Rapids police officer in the 4100 block of North Castle Ridge Dr. SE.
The shooting happened just before 1:30 p.m. at Clearpoint Valley Townhomes, according to police.
Police say the teen was shot after approaching officers with an air gun when they responded to a call at the location. They also said he has a history of mental health issues.
The incident remains under investigation.
