Local Meijer Stores Packed After Threat of Snow Storm

WEST MICHIGAN — With an arctic blast on the way, people around West Michigan headed to Meijer in droves to stock up on goods.

FOX 17 headed to the Meijer in Plainfield Township to speak with customers about how they’re preparing. Many people don’t want to risk running out of essentials if they’re forced to stay off the roads.

The parking lot was packed and finding a shopping cart required waiting, at one point.

Meijer stores around West Michigan had similar experiences. FOX 17 viewers submitted photos as they shopped in area stores. Empty shelves, long checkout lanes, and packed aisles were par for the course.

“I remember the storm of 86, where everybody was snowed in and we had to ride in snowmobiles to get to the store so I just don’t want to live that again,”
shopper Linda Leroux said.

Meantime, employees have their hands full as they work to restock shelves and get ready for the next wave of customers.
