Gas Spill, Injuries After Ottawa Co. Crash

Posted

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Two people were injured Wednesday after their vehicle hit a semi-truck, punctured its gas tank and caused it to spray fuel on the road.

The accident happened at roughly 10:25 a.m. at the intersection of 120th Avenue and James Street in Holland Township.

A 66-year-old man ran a red light and drove into the side of the semi with his jeep, according to a press release.  Both he and a 52-year-old female passenger in his vehicle were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver was not injured, but a “large amount” of gas from his truck poured onto the road east of the intersection.  James Street was closed for two hours while firefighters cleaned up the spill.
