SPRINGFIELD, Mich.- Deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department are investigating an arson that happened early Saturday morning. Deputies were called to the 600 block of Parish Street around 1 a.m. for a vehicle fire. When they got to the scene, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames and was very close to a neighboring house. Deputies tried to put the fire out but it was too big. They then went to the neighboring house and were able to get everyone out safely; the house has minor damage from the vehicle fire. After investigating, deputies found out the vehicle had been broken into and then set on fire. They do have a person of interest in the case but have not arrested anyone.
