Man Charged With Killing Cellmate at Muskegon Jail

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A 50-year-old man is facing open murder charges after allegedly killing his cellmate at the Muskegon Brooks Correctional facility.

Robert Allen Hall was charged Oct. 18 after allegedly attacking his inmate Oct. 6 with a homemade shank and pieces of asphalt he collected and put in a bag.  That man died in the hospital Oct. 11.

According to a Monday release from the Muskegon County Prosector’s Office, Hall bludgeoned and stabbed the other inmate while he slept.

Allen was currently serving a jail sentence for a 2009 second-degree murder conviction.  He also has a lengthy criminal history including sexual assault, armed robbery and felony firearm possession that dates back to 1983.
