WEST MICHIGAN. — According to a Press Release from the Kent County Sheriff’s Department the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) from the Grand Rapids Office and the Kent Area Narcotics Team (KANET) of the Kent County Sheriff Department has been involved in a joint narcotics investigation (Operation High Mileage) involving the cultivation and sale of marijuana over several West Michigan Counties.
On October 16 a large cooperative operation was conducted involving several federal, county and local law enforcement agencies. As a result of the investigation 28 search warrants were executed at 28 different locations and 3 consent searches at 3 additional locations resulting in 25 physical arrests. 500 marijuana plants and other assets identified as drug proceeds were also seized. A large number of these search warrants were conducted in Muskegon County area.
All arrested suspects were transported to Kent County Correctional Facility and lodged on federal drug charges and were arraigned on October 17 in Federal Court located in Grand Rapids.
This operation was a success due largely to the cooperation and team work between all of the agencies involved which included over 160 officers.
Agencies involved are the following: U.S. Attorneys Office, DEA (Grand Rapids and Detroit field Offices), Department of Justice, Kent County Sheriff Department, West Michigan Enforcement Team–WEMET (MSP), SSENT (MSP), TNT (MSP), East Grand Rapids DPS, Grandville PD, Grand Rapids PD, Grand Haven DPS, Kalamazoo DPS, Oceana County Sheriff
Department, Muskegon PD, Muskegon County Sheriff Department and Walker PD.
