CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. — Police gave a fairly standard description of the man they say robbed a Rite Aid in Cedar Springs at gunpoint Friday afternoon, but multiple witnesses claim he looked like television star Drew Carey.

According to law enforcement officials, at just after 4 p.m. a man in his late 20s or early 30s entered the store, located on 17th and White Creek, and pulled a gun out and threatened employees.  He then took an undisclosed amount of money and fled into a wooded area near the store.  Canine units tracked him for an hour but lost his scent.

Police describe him as a white male between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, between 150 and 160 pounds with dark rimmed glasses.  He was wearing a dark hoodie and had dark bushy hair that they believe was a wig.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call Cedar Springs Police at 616-696-1311, Kent County Sheriff’s Department at 616-632-6490 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
