ROCKFORD, Mich. — Roughly one quarter of the students at Rockford Public Schools will stay home tomorrow because of E. coli contamination in the water.

Nearly 2,000 of the district’s 8,000 students go to the five schools and child care program that will be closed Thursday because of E. Coli levels in the water.

According to a letter sent home to parents, the following schools and programs will be closed:

Meadow Ridge Elementary
Parkside Elementary
Valley View Elementary
North Rockford Middle School
River Valley Academy
Child Care (Administration Building)

According to Superintendent Dr. Michael Shibler, the schools will be open again Friday if the equipment malfunction at the city’s water treatment plant is resolved.
