KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who claimed her estranged husband had broken into her house and assaulted her boyfriend while they were both asleep, according to the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department.
Officers determined the suspect, a 23-year-old man from Kalamazoo, had been watching the couple and waited for them to fall asleep. He then used a knife to cut the bedroom window sand went through the window. The suspect hit the boyfriend repeatedly, but the victim was eventually able to defend himself and chase the suspect out of the house.
The suspect manged to leave the scene before police got there. A police dog and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies tracked the suspect to a garage in the Westwood area, where the suspect WAS HIDING. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
