LANSING, Mich. — After being just one vote short on an initial vote Tuesday, the Michigan state senate passed Medicaid expansion during a second vote.
Medicaid, health insurance for low income citizens, will now be available to roughly 470,000 people after this vote through funding from the federal Affordable Care Act.
Gov. Rick Snyder supported the expansion, but initially had difficulty getting the Senate to see eye-to-eye with him. An earlier version of the bill passed the House in June, but they will now revote on the new version of the bill.
