Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Airport Receives Federal Grant

KALAMAZOO, Mich- U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin announced on Friday, support for the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport for runway upgrades. The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration.

The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport will receive $625,500 from the Federal Aviation Administration.

This grant will provide support to the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport for the installation of runway guard lights to enhance safe airfield operations during night operations and low visibility conditions. The project will also crack seal and remark the runway to preserve the useful life of the pavement and enhance visibility of pavement markings.

“Making sure passengers are able to travel to and from Southwest Michigan safely and efficiently is vital to the region’s economy,” said Senator Stabenow. “I am pleased this funding will support critical improvements at Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport, which is opening up the region to more domestic and international commerce and helping to spur job growth.”
