WEST MICHIGAN — A cold front combined with clear skies and calm winds overnight allowed temperatures to drop across West Michigan in the early morning hours. Temperatures dropped so much in some areas that daily low temperature records were tied and broken.
The official lows will come out later today but preliminary data suggests a few cities across West Michigan broke some fairly old records. South Haven dropped to 48 degrees tying their record that dates back over 104 years. Baldwin was the coolest spot this morning dropping to 38 degrees beating their record from over 65 years ago. Fremont had no problem breaking their record, they did so this morning by over 7 degrees. Unofficially Grand Rapids fell to 51 degrees, four degrees away from tying their daily low record but clear skies and calm winds tonight will give many cities around West Michigan another chance as overnight lows drop back into the low 50’s once again.
