BLOOMINGDALE, Mich. — Five-year-old Emma Reynolds is, like many her age, a fun-loving little girl. She loves to play, and her mother said Shady Brook Park is her favorite place to be in all of Bloomingdale.

However, her personality and character go much deeper.

“Emma is one of the most caring, big-hearted girls ever. She loves to help other people, and she’s just kind and generous, with our family and friends,” Kimberly Reynolds, Emma’s mother said.

Emma is helping people beat the heat. Her mother said it started one hot, humid evening while watching the news.

“She saw the people that were sick and elderly dying from the heat and wondered why they didn’t have air conditioners, and I told her that air conditioners are so expensive that not everyone can afford them,” Reynolds explained.

That’s when Emma started fundraising to provide the air conditioners for them.

“I’m making bracelets to sell them and selling cookies,” she said.

Her mom also started an account on a fundraising site.

“She’s made $696 since last week, in 4 days,” Reynolds said.

So far she’s bought three air conditioners. Warner’s Supply Do It Center sold them on discount for the cause. It’s a selfless undertaking for Emma, that her mom said may not have sunk in for the tyke initially.

“Once she saw that she raised enough money to help those in need, she was pretty excited about it and understands more how amazing it is what she is doing,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds said they plan to give away the air conditioners they have so far on Friday. If you’re interested in donating, go to her fundraising page:https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/1Yl1a
