MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. – An intoxicated man with a handgun was arrested outside of the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department around 11:00 p.m. Saturday night, July 20.
The man was cursing and demanding that more sheriff’s deputies respond to a child custody dispute he was having with an ex-girlfriend. He had called dispatch earlier in the evening to report that the ex-girlfriend had taken their son from his home in Stanton.
Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputies and Michigan State Police Troopers were able to communicate with the suspect through an intercom. He was later placed under arrest for possessing a firearm while intoxicated.
The suspect also faces suspension or revocation of his concealed weapons permit.
Sheriff’s deputies located the suspect’s child who was found safe with his mother.
