WEST MICHIGAN — Temperatures are warming quickly this morning after a very mild evening. Heat and humidity will increase steadily through the day Wednesday as temperatures warm into the low to mid 90’s and heat index values climb near 100 degrees. A light westerly wind between 10 and 15 miles per hour will allow for some relief this afternoon. Temperatures overnight will not offer much in the way of relief as overnight low temperatures only drop into the low to mid 70’s. Another hot and humid day for Thursday as the ridge of high pressure gradually starts to break down. Temperatures will stay in the 90’s for Thursday afternoon but relief is within reach.
A potent cold front will drop southeast out of Canada and into the Great Lakes Friday bringing chances for showers and thunderstorms a few of which could be on the strong side. Behind the cold front much cooler and drier air as we head into the weekend with afternoon highs warming into the low to mid 80’s.
Heat advisories remain in effect for most of West Michigan through midnight Thursday.
