HASTINGS, Mich.– As the Hastings Airport works to become more self-sufficient, they invite you to see what they’re all about. The Hastings Flying Association is hosting its annual All-You-Can-Eat pancake breakfast Saturday, July 13, from 7-11am. It will be held at the airport.
To help connect West Michigan businesses with those around the region, the Hastings airport is crucial. That’s why the airport hopes people see it as an important economic resource for the area.
“A lot of people fly in and out for business,” said airport manager, Mark Noteboom. “Private pilots, instead of buying new cars, will buy planes and support us with rent and gas.”
The airport is expanding and is currently under construction. A half million dollar grant is going towards resurfacing it’s nearly 30-year-old taxiways. And, they’re adding another one to accommodate increasing business travel.
“We started with about 26 planes four years ago. Now we have 70, as well as new buildings,” said Noteboom. “Probably $3.5 to $4 million in new buildings being put up in the last four years.”
This annual pancake breakfast is a big part in helping support the airport’s mission.
Breakfast is $6 for adults and $3 for kids 10 years and younger. Thornapple Flying is also offering airplane rides for $30 per person. All ages welcome.
