LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Supreme Court will not be granting Governor Snyder’s request for an advisory opinion on the constitutionality of the state’s right-to-work law.
In a unanimous decision, the court decided it was “Not persuaded that granting the request would be an appropriate exercise of the court’s discretion.”
Today’s ruling leaves the half-year-old law open to a court challenge.
In December, the Republican-led Legislature quickly passed the measure during its lame-duck session, making it illegal to require union dues payment as a condition of employment.
