KALAMAZOO — The federal government today, confirmed the award of the Head Start contract to the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency.
Kalamazoo RESA will administer the Head Start program, effective July 1st, with the $4.3-million grant announced by Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families.

Last March, the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners approved transferring the program, which serves 594 low-income 3- and 4-year-old children, from the county Health and Community Services Department to Kalamazoo RESA, saying it would provide a better educational experience for students.

All Head Start employees have been invited to apply for openings as the new program gets under way.

On August 7 at the Kalamazoo Library will provide more information to families of Head Start students as well as the community at large about the program.
