lemonade standGRAND RAPIDS,Mich. — Kids and families hosted an official Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the Toys“R”Us store located at 3445 28th St. SE in Grand Rapids on Friday, June 21.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for all kids with cancer.

In the United States alone, approximately 11,630 children under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2013.

Attendees  enjoyed a complimentary glass of lemonade and made donations to help kids in need.

All monies raised during the event and throughout the company’s two month in-store and online fundraising campaign will be directed to ALSF, allowing the organization to provide research grants to doctors and scientists, and support families affected by pediatric cancer.

The event  also featured the Lemon Smiles Challenge, an online campaign designed to encourage people to show support for ALSF by sharing photos on social media of themselves, family and friends smiling while biting into a lemon.

Participants can show support for kids fighting cancer, ALSF, and all who continue to search for a cure by sharing their smiles on the Toys“R”Us Facebook page at Facebook.com/Toysrus or on Twitter @Toysrus using #LemonSmiles.
