GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — With the first official day of summer just ahead of us on Friday, temperatures will continue to warm up around West Michigan.
Most areas away from Lake Michigan will reach 80° or higher Thursday afternoon, after another fairly cool start to the morning. Sunshine will hold throughout the day with just a few thin clouds likely.
Winds shifting to the southwest will keep temperatures climbing into the weekend, especially as a warm front develops and moves through the region over the weekend.
However, with that warmer air will come more moisture, and the combination of the heat and humidity interacting with the warm front will lead to the potential for several rounds of thunderstorms over the weekend.
That similar setup will hang on well into next week; however, much of the time will still remain dry each day.
Updates to the forecast will continue to refine the rain chances over the next few days; check out the latest 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page.
