GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 67-year-old man was shot in the leg while watering his lawn with his four-year-old grandson at about 8:50 p.m. Wednesday night, according to Grand Rapids police.

The man was a bystander in the incident, which took place at the 1000 block of Thomas Street near Neland Avenue.   Police say the suspect who fired the shot was chasing a black car with tinted windows, then fled on foot.   He is described as a black teenager wearing a white hat, white shirt and black shorts.

After sustaining the gunshot wound, the man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police as well as many residents in the area are worried there may be more violence in this area related to this incident later tonight.
