GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Residents hit hard by the spring floods can get some extra help from the Federal Government starting next week.

A disaster loan center will be opening at the Kent County Sheriff’s Department starting Tuesday, June 18th. People affected by the flooding can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration to help replace damaged or destroyed items.

Residents of Kent, Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Ottawa Counties are all eligible for loans. Everyone is encouraged to apply on-line but you can head to the outreach center if you need additional one on one help.

The center will be open from June 18th to June 27th at the Kent County Sheriff’s Department on Ball Avenue Northeast. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, Saturday from 10am-2pm, and the center is closed on Sundays.

You must file by August 12th in order to receive a loan for physical property damage and by March 14th, 2014 to recover money for an economic injury.
