Spencer, JasonHOLLAND, Mich. — The man arrested in connection with a Holland neighborhood lockdown was arraigned on felony assault and firearm charges today, as well as a charge of concealing a stolen firearm.

Thirty-year-old Holland resident Jason Scott Spencer is said to have threatened his Stratford Street neighbor, ordering him at gunpoint to keep his children away from Spencer’s.  The victim then contacted police, who locked down the neighborhood and evacuated apartments in an effort to find him.

The combined sentence for the three charges against Spencer is 16 years, though he was also arraigned on two unrelated warrants for simple assault and driving with a suspended license.  The bonds for both sets of offenses totals $7,000.

Holland Police say Spencer was found in his apartment after the incident, though there was a second man discovered in the attic dismantling the gun Spencer flashed at his neighbor, according to Holland Public Safety Department Captain Jack Dykstra.  That man and another 23-year-old woman at the scene were arrested for obstructing police.

“You have to expect the unexpected and that was unexpected, finding him up there along with the gun,” Dykstra said.
