HOLLAND, Mich. – A 10-year-old Holland girl, Christianna Murphy, died unexpectedly on May 24th while her family was in Zambia on a missionary trip.

Christianna’s parents, Rob and Christa Murphy, started the Africa’s Child Resale Store in Holland Township to help support the mission.

Christianna was a healthy child and died suddenly while playing with her siblings. Both parents tried to resuscitate her for about an hour.

“We can’t begin to express the pain of losing her in our lives, but we don’t despair as we know she is dancing in the arms of Jesus, who gives us hope to face tomorrow,” wrote Christa Murphy in the family’s blog.

The child’s body is back in Michigan and the parents are expected to return Friday, the same day as a preliminary autopsy report. The funeral will be on June 15th at Central Wesleyan Church.  Donations are being accepted for funeral and travel expenses through the resale store, Africa’s Child, 414 E. Lakewood Blvd.
