LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State Police have released a traffic report that shows the number of traffic deaths during Memorial Day weekend decreased in comparison to 2012.
In four separate traffic crashes, five people lost their lives during the 2013 weekend. In 2012, ten people died in traffic crashes during Memorial Day weekend.
Of the five fatalities, police say two used seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor in two of the crashes. The other two crashes are unknown at this time.
Police say these numbers are preliminary and reflect fatalities reported as of Monday morning.
