Unseasonably Cold Mother’s Day

Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — (FOX 17) Unseasonably cool air settles into West Michigan today and tonight dropping temperatures into the low to mid 30’s this morning. Gusty winds out of the north will make Mother’s Day feel even cooler with gusts around 30 mph possible. High temperatures will struggle to warm today with afternoon high temperatures only getting into the upper 40’s and low 50’s and when you factor in a gusty wind it will feel even cooler.

Because of these unseasonably cool temperatures the Freeze Watch that was issued on Saturday for Sunday night and Monday morning has been upgraded to a Freeze Warning. This means that many areas are likely to see a widespread frost, which could damage buds and blooms on fruit trees and other sensitive vegetation.

Temperatures will slowly rise on Monday with high’s back into the 70’s by mid-week.
