KALAMAZOO, Mich — Two people have been arrested after a shooting early Friday morning.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said officers went to the 1000 block of Washington Street because shots were fired around 1:30 a.m. They found that the suspects and the intended victim or victims had ran away, and no one who was at the home was hurt.

A few minutes later, an officer saw two people hiding in the 1200 block of Portage Road. One of them set a Tec-9 assault pistol down on the ground, and the officers were able to arrest them both.

A 17-year-old Kalamazoo teenager now faces charges of carrying a concealed firearm, discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a firearm while under the age of 18.

The second suspect, a 23-year-old also from Kalamazoo, faces a bond violation and outstanding warrant.

They were both taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail pending arraignment.
