Battle Creek Police Chief: Department Cleared In Criminal Investigation, Demand Apology

Posted

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek Police Chief Jackie Hampton said he found out Wednesday that the Calhoun County Prosecutor found no wrong-doing in an investigation stemming from allegations of corruption and cover-ups within the police department.

Chief Hampton told FOX 17 that the community deserves a public apology from the commissioner who made the initial allegations months ago.

Commissioner Jeff Domenico has said there is a ‘culture of corruption’ within the Battle Creek Police Department but has failed to give any specific examples because he wants to protect those that have come to him in confidence.

Chief Hampton said now that the department has been cleared by the Calhoun County Prosecutor, he is looking into possible legal action against the commissioner.

He said actions of Domenico were “reckless” and damaged the reputation not only of the police department, but the entire Battle Creek community.
