Suspect in Double Murder Won’t Leave Cell, Hearing Delayed

Posted

KENT COUNTY, Mich – Court officials tell Fox 17 News a preliminary hearing for the suspect in a double murder is being delayed because he won’t leave his cell.

Javonte Higgins was scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. in a case of auto theft, home invasion and fleeing police. He was in a crash involving a stolen truck in December.

Jail officials said Higgins was ‘uncooperative’ as they were trying to transport him to court.

He is also the only suspect in the January killings of David and Vivian Bouwman in Kentwood.
