Lightning Strike Causes Plainfield Township Blaze

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A home was extensively damaged by a fire caused by a lightning strike and firefighters rescued two cats Wednesday evening.

At 5 p.m., neighbors told homeowners at 6583 Rogue View Court in Plainfield Township that their house was on fire and they were able to get outside safely. Two cats remained inside, however, and were eventually rescued from the flames by the Plainfield Township Fire Department, which quickly extinguished the fire.

No occupants or firefighters were injured.

The Plainfield Township Fire Department told FOX 17 NEWS that the blaze was caused by a lightning strike and that the house sustained from $50,000 to $75,000 damage.
