WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — A week ago, I made a gutsy forecast for Wednesday’s high temperature: 70º. With each passing day, it started to look like we had a shot at it. Even as late as Monday morning, one of the computer models we use was forecasting a high of 71º for Grand Rapids. Just a few hours later, most every model trended much cooler. It made for an agonizing decision: Do I bail, or do I keep the 70º I had been forecasting for nearly a week? All the other weather forecasts I saw were bouncing all over the place, while we remained completely consistent each day.
As of Monday evening, I have kept the Wednesday forecast at 70º. This image from one of the computer models we use shows the warm air in place across West Michigan Wednesday. Most other computer models. however, have us significantly cooler now.
What I do know for sure is that there will be plenty of rain Tuesday through Wednesday, with some areas receiving over 1.50″. I also know it will get colder Thursday and Friday such that there will likely be a wintry mix of precipitation.
What I am not certain about it the high temperature Wednesday, but we’ll continue to update you on-air and online at http://www.fox17online.com/weather
