ADA, Mich. –  Allegations of a secret camera found in a dance studio’s dressing room in Ada has parents worried and the Kent County Sheriff’s Department investigating.

Parents who were picking up their children at the Ada Dance Academy Tuesday afternoon, we’re stunned to hear of the investigation.

Each parent was unaware of a recording device reportedly found in the dance studio.

For 15 years, Marlene Kenneway has owned and operated the Ada Dance Academy.

When asked what happened. Kenneway said,  “Everything is the hands of the sheriff, and they said everything, the children, everyone is safe.  There is nothing we have to worry about so they are handling everything.”

Through an anonymous tip, FOX 17 was told a camera equipped iPhone was discovered last week, hidden in an area commonly used as a dressing room.

The concern from parents is that phone could be used to record or stream video of children undressing.

We asked Kenneway if there was any notification given to parents. She responded, “I talked to them personally of course, and I’m here everyday.  We have a staff here everyday.  So the children are very, very safe.”

The Kent County Sheriff’s Department would only say there is an ongoing investigation.

However, the concerned parent and owner say there may be a connection with the iPhone and the business next door, Papa K’s Pizza.

“It wasn’t in our building, it was next door,” Kenneway said of the iPhone.

Police are yet to confirm any connection.

We asked the people working at Papa K’s Pizza if they knew about a recording device placed in the dance studio. They said it was the first they were hearing of it.

The owner of the dance studio said her priority right now is to reassure her customers they are safe and to help in the investigation.
