GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Glenn Davis, a former math teacher and girls basketball coach, is accused of having sex with a teenage girl. In a Kent County courtroom on Monday, he waived his right his preliminary hearing.
The move, according to his attorney, keeps the door open for a possible plea deal.
Davis is free on bond after he was arrested and charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.
The prosecution said they will drop two of the charges in exchange for a guilty plea from Davis to one count of criminal sexual conduct in the first.
If the case goes to trial Davis could face a maximum sentence of life in prison, if he takes the deal he could spend 4 to 7 years behind bars.
His family sat in the front row behind the accused and had no comment as they left the courthouse.
