It was Drake Harris’ night on the basketball court as his team won it’s regional semifinal, but all focus was on his future in football.
“I have decommitted from Michigan State,” the Grand Rapids Christian wide receiver told FOX17 on Monday night following his team’s 64-61 win over Lansing Waverly.
Harris apologized to the MSU community, fans and the Spartan coaching staff.
“Someone’s going to be disappointed wherever I go but I mean I have to do what’s best for me,” Harris said.
“Since I’m just playing football now and not both football and basketball, I want to play at a bigger school and win a national championship.”
Harris also confirmed that this season will be his last playing basketball for Grand Rapids Christian. He still plans to play for the Eagles football team in the fall and then enroll in college early.
The four-star wide receiver says he has plans to visit other notable football schools. Harris said he is visiting Florida this month and Ohio State and Notre Dame in April.
Drake told FOX 17 he has not talked to MSU’s staff but said Coach Mark Dantonio and the staff will still try to recruit him.
