LAKEVIEW, Mich. — A plow truck fell through the ice in Tamarack Lake, necessitating the cancellation of the town’s vintage snowmobile races Saturday morning.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, Greg McKenna of Lakeview was cleaning off the ice for the vintage snowmobile races when his truck went through the ice on Tamarack Lake in the center of the northern Montcalm County community. McKenna got out OK but the truck remained at the bottom of the lake.

The vintage snowmobile races were canceled.

Lakeview Fire Chief Pat Carr told FOX 17 NEWS that a diver came to the scene and his ATV also fell through the ice.

Viewers told FOX 17 NEWS that a Lakeview Fire Department truck and equipment also fell through the ice later on. However, Carr and firefighters who were on the scene told FOX 17 NEWS that that was not true and that no fire department truck ever went through the ice.
