Pedestrian Hit & Killed In Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A 22-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle shortly after midnight near the Western Michigan University campus.

At 12:42 a.m. Sunday, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to a report of a person being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of West Michigan Avenue and Emajean Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a 22-year-old Kalamazoo resident lying in the roadway.  The accident victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

At this time alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident.
