GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Public Schools is scheduled to lay off nearly 200 employees by the end of the school year.
The layoffs are part of the district-wide transformation plan that will also be closing 10 schools.
On Monday, the school board approved issuing notices, which gave the administrators 90 days notice that their contracts might not be renewed.
The transformation plan is expected to save taxpayers $4.4 million a year.
