GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A teenager’s remains are finally coming home after her body was found in the Manistee National Forest nearly nine years ago.

Amanda Lankey, 13, of White Cloud, was found dead in 2004 after she disappeared from a friend’s home in Newaygo County nearly two weeks earlier.

On Tuesday, Lankey’s mother told FOX 17 News that she will be returning to Michigan to hold a small graveside memorial ceremony for her daughter.

Part of Lankey’s remains are being held in a crime lab as evidence in her murder case.

No one has been charged with the teenager’s death. However, two people are facing charges for lying to police during the investigation.
