OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. – The unemployment rate for Ottawa County has fallen below the state’s average.
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget released new information that shows Ottawa County’s employment rate has fallen to 5.3 percent. The county is doing better than the state’s average of 8.9 percent.
“We have made great strides in turning around Michigan’s economy and getting this state back to work,” said state Rep. Joe Haveman, R-Holland.
In addition to the lowering unemployment rate, the Holland-Grand Haven metropolitan area is seeing a 2.2 percent growth in jobs over the past year.
“After a decade of decline, 2013 promises to be a much more successful year for Michigan residents,” Haveman said.
