Inmate Trustee Back in Jail After Walking Away From Work Detail

MATTAWAN, Mich. — An inmate trustee is back in jail after walking away from a work site over the weekend.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says Matthew Albert Brady was using the salt spreader on the sidewalks and walked away from his duties around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Police say Brady was found Sunday around 5:40 a.m.

Deputies and the Michigan State Police found  Brady walking eastbound on I-94 near the Kalamazoo County line.

Brady is now waiting arraignment for violating probation and  escaping lawful custody.
