GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A woman was killed in a crash early Saturday morning.
It happened around 4:05 a.m. near the intersection of 3rd Street and Fremont Avenue NW.
Police say Michelle Katherine Caverley, 22, of Grand Rapids, was a passenger in a minivan that apparently left the road and struck a tree.
Police say the woman ended up outside of the van and the driver took off.
Caverley was taken to Spectrum Butterworth but died as a result of the crash.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, police added.
The driver was located and arrested.
The case was handed over to the Kent County Prosecuter’s Office.
