WEST MICHIGAN — The forecast from FOX 17 Weather Ready Meteorologist Gracyn Freund: Cloudy skies will start the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms moving through. Rain should taper off around noon, followed by gradual clearing and some afternoon sunshine. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 70s and it will feel a bit humid. As the cold front pushes through, northwest winds will increase to 10–20 mph, building waves on Lake Michigan to around 3–5 feet. These conditions will create dangerous swimming conditions, prompting a Beach Hazard Statement. There may be another complex of showers and storms that moves in late this evening into early tonight, mainly closer to the lakeshore. Cooler and drier air will settle in behind today’s front, making for a noticeably cooler and more comfortable Sunday. Highs will only reach the low 70s with lower humidity, it will feel more like fall than summer! Speaking of... beautiful weather is on tap for the first day of school Monday with sunshine and highs in the mid 70s. Temperatures remain around average, if not a few degrees below, through next week with highs in the upper 70s to around 80. Our next chance for showers and storms will come Wednesday and Thursday.
