HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — After months of dealing with a detour, drivers on eastbound I-196 in Ottawa County will have to deal with it a while longer.

MDOT has announced changes in the traffic flow in the area, but there will be no change for drivers going eastbound on I-196 toward Grandville and Grand Rapids. All traffic will continue to be detoured onto eastbound M-6 through November.

But drivers on westbound M-6 approaching I-196 are now finding significant changes:

  • M-6 westbound, no through traffic to I-196 westbound. Must exit at 8th Avenue until Nov. 14.
  • Access to I-196 eastbound available from M-6 westbound; ramp opens Saturday, Aug. 1 at 4 a.m. from M-6 westbound to I-196 eastbound towards Grand Rapids.
  • Ramp closed from 8th Avenue to M-6 westbound.

Drivers on I-196 westbound will find a lane closure at 32nd Avenue in Hudsonville.

I-196 eastbound will have a lane closure from M-6 to the Kenowa Avenue bridge until Nov. 14.
